1. Nilaveli Beach

Nilaveli Beach is located in the Trincomalee district, 16 kilometers away from the city center. This beach is renowned for its leisure activities, particularly scuba diving, and spans across an area of 8 kilometers.

2. Thirukoneswaram Kovil

The Koneswaram Temple is a significant Hindu temple located in the Trincomalee district. According to historical accounts, the temple's origins date back to 205 BC. Positioned atop a rocky mountain, it is surrounded by the sea. The temple holds great historical importance in the Sri Lankan Ramayana history and is mentioned in various ancient texts such as the Vayu Purana, the Konesar Kolvettu, and Tevaram hymns by Sambandhar and Sundarar, making it a revered Paadal Petra Sthalam

3. Arugam Bay

Arugam Bay is a beach located in the Ampara district, renowned as a prime surfing destination and the exclusive venue for international surf competitions in Sri Lanka. Since 2004, it has been the site of numerous international surfing events. The optimal period to visit Arugam Bay is from April to September.

4. Passikudah Beach

Pasikudah is located in the Batticoloa district of Sri Lanka, approximately 35 km from the city of Batticaloa. It is renowned for its picturesque golden bay and crystal-clear, shallow waters, allowing visitors to wade up to 50 meters out to sea. The best time to visit Pasikudah is between March and October.

5. Muhudu Maha Viharaya

Muhudu Maha Viharaya is a Buddhist temple located in the Ampara district. According to belief, the temple's location is where Princess Devi, from the Kelaniya kingdom, arrived after her father was compelled to sacrifice her to pacify the gods following a tsunami. Princess Devi journeyed to the Ruhuna kingdom and married its ruler, King Kavan Tissa; she is better known as Viharamahadevi, the mother of the renowned King Dutugamunu. The temple holds significant historical and cultural value and is a compelling destination, particularly for enthusiasts of history.

6. Pigeon Island Marine National Park

The Pigeon Island Marine National Park is located in the Trincomalee district, just 1km away from the Nilaveli coast, and is one of the three marine national parks in the area. It features a 200m long and 100m wide coral reef with over 100 species of corals, creating an exceptional and diverse marine environment. The best time to visit the park is from March to October, allowing for optimal viewing of the vibrant live coral reef.

7. Kanniya hot water springs

The Kanniya Hot Springs are located in the Trincomalee district and consist of seven wells arranged in a square formation. Each well is approximately 3-4 feet deep, allowing clear visibility of the bottom.

8. Batticoloa Dutch Fort

Fort Fredrick, also known as Trincomalee Fort, is located in the Trincomalee district and was originally constructed by the Portuguese in 1624. Originally under Portuguese control, the fort later came under the rule of the Dutch and British. The fort is of a triangular shape and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area in Trincomalee from its elevated vantage point.

10. Kumana National Park

Kumana National Park, located in the Ampara district, is adjacent to Yala National Park and is known for its diverse bird population. In addition to being a habitat for numerous bird species, the park is also home to elephants, spotted deer, leopards, golden jackals, wild boars, and European otters. The best time to visit the park is from February to September, offering visitors an ideal opportunity to experience a safari.

11. Seruwawila Maha Raja Maha Viharaya

The Seruwawila Raja Maha Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple located in the Trincomalee district. This temple was constructed during the reign of King Kavan Tissa. It is noteworthy that Sri Lanka's longest river flows in close proximity to this sacred place.

12. Marble Beach

Marble Beach is located in the Trincomalee district and is under the jurisdiction of the Sri Lanka Navy. The tranquil waters of this beach, on a clear and sunny day, reflect light in a manner resembling the smooth surface of marble. It is situated 17 kilometers away from the city center of Trincomalee.
